Maureen wanted to provide a different flavor for each performance. Because
of the variation of style and feel she was able to accomplish this by having a pool to select from as it fit the musical occasion. Mo’
Jazz was originally called MJN. It was the initials of three musicians that set in a church in Mount Vernon, NY,
playing inspirational – jazz. As this trio expanded it grew into a network- so did the name. The group expanded along
with the music- it was more or MO’ Jazz Network.
The band produces
a musical fusion of soulful gospel and smooth jazz. Shades and influences of Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Grover Washington
Jr., Allen and Allen can be heard in their production.
MJN (Mo'Jazz Network) has been acclaimed as the
hottest gospel- jazz sound in the New York Metropolitan area. They have a combined performance history collectively and individually
of the Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra, BET Bobby Jones Gospel Show, The Cosby Show, The World Famous Apollo, Ashford
and Simpson’s Sugar Bar Restaurant and BB Kings Restaurant. Mo’ Jazz has shared the stage with jazz saxophonists
Mike Phillips, and Andre Ward, Vikki Winans, the Mighty Sparrow, the legendary Intruders, Cuba Gooden J., and the Main Ingredients.
MJN (Mo'Jazz Network) is planning its first international
tour as the band, (although they have performed internationally individually). They are also in the studio working on a new
CD, which is scheduled to be released this winter.
